What Has Been Achieved So Far

When we, the members of BVHAI, started serving the community last February 2008, we felt doubts and some fears.

If we were to categorize our members, one will notice that there were actually two groups of members comprising the present board of directors. And each group had their own fears and doubts. The first group is composed of the re-elected members meaning they have been board memembers in the past. And their concern now is will this present members of the board be able to get the cooperation of the community, work with harmony and unite the community in the process?

Meanwhile the second group , the newly elected, meaning the first-timers, has this to say -- "Ano ba ang gagawin ko dito? Kaya ko bang gawin at tapusin ang mga iaatas sa aking mga tungkulin? Paano ang mga obligasyon ko sa bahay, sa mga anak ko, sa asawa ko at sa pinagtratrabahuhan ko? Paano kung hindi ko magawa ang aking mga obligasyon? Ano ang sasabihin ng mga kasamahan ko sa board at mga kapitbahay ko? Mahirap yata itong napasukan ko. Their apprehension is that they may not be ready and equipped enough to handle the challenges that may arise in serving the community.

But despite their uncertainties, they worked as the have never worked before. And so far, these were the things that were accomplished in their first eleven months of service.

  1. Initiated formal amicable settlement (FAS) of disputes between neighbors with the full cooperation of both parties.
  2. Successfully updated ninety percent (90%) of the outstanding balance in water bills and monthly dues with the full concurrence of the paying public.
  3. Initiated annual pet vaccination which was supported by the pet loving members of the community.
  4. Removed, reduced and avoided unnecessary expenses in running the affairs of the subdivision such as changing Blue Guards to GateKeepers, reduce maintenance staff, seeking voluntary support in all projects of the different committees of BVAHAI which were understood and supported by the community.
  5. Improving coffers of BVAHAI by adding more income generating activities such as road users fee, increasing monthly dues from Php200.00 to Php400.00, all approved and complied with by the homeowners.
  6. Initiated and improved neighborhood camaraderie through activities such as the Kapitbahayan Festival and Christmas Party - with the help and involvement of the members of the community.
  7. Revived quarterly issuance of The Village Voice - our Newsletter.
  8. Aesthetic improvements in Gates 1 & 2.
  9. Discovered and presently resolving water pollution of Pump 1.
  10. Revised General Assembly
  11. Improved security by closing Gate leading to Villa Virginia, repair of the Phase 2 Gate bar and purchase if motorcycle for the roving guard.
  12. Ratification of By-Laws regarding two years term of office of the Board Directors.
  13. Defended the rights of the homeowners by preventing unscrupulous people in their desire to seize and possess some of the vacant private lots.
The present board may not have reached the standard of excellence expected by the community but what they are sure of was that they did their best and the accomplished tasks were done willingly, wholeheartedly, generously and determinedly all for the benefit of the homeowners who have began working hand in hand with the members of the board of directors.

Thus the board of directors, in union with the homeowners, are now better prepared to face problems in the community; well-equipped to overcome these challenges; and will not back out from all these challenges but rather face them together relentlessly and uncompromisingly. This is what we have achieved so far.
