Pet Vaccination Day
Desiring to protect the villagers and their pets from rabies, the Committee on Sanitation and Environment have launched a project called “Pets Vaccination Day”. A group of veterinarians came to the village last October 2 to give our pet dogs and cats anti-rabies vaccinations, with Mrs. Flora Kintanar and Mrs. Cora Velasco assisting.
The success of this project could have been complete if only all homeowners were able to avail of this service. Many said they were not aware of the event or that they forgot about it despite of having the activity announced through letters two weeks earlier and announced at Mass, two days before the event itself. Nevertheless, pet owners who were there were much satisfied that they suggested the project to be a yearly event.A total of eighty eight dogs and one cat that were vaccinated and again, the words “sana maulit ito” were uttered by the homeowners.Let it now be known that the Committee on Sanitation and Environment have already formally requested the Veterinary Section of the Antipolo Health Office that not only will the Pet Vaccination Day be an annual October happening but there will also be a regular stray dog trapping every month. This will answer to the clamor of the villagers to keep pets within the residential boundaries of the homeowner to lessen incidents of dog bites specially in children and to help improve environmental hygiene in the village.
“We are a united community living in a beautiful and safe environment."
